The Cause
Mention the word adoption to most people and two things come to mind. One it takes a long time and two it is very expensive. This may be true in the case of most private or international adoptions but it is certainly not true regarding domestic foster care adoptions. There are over 100,000 adoptable children in the US foster care system who can be adopted immediately and for little or no cost. In fact some states will even continue to provide financial support for these adopted children. Foster care was intended to be a temporary place for children until permanent homes could be found. Unfortunately too many kids are spending too many years in care and many end up still in care when they turn 18 and “age out” of the system. The statistics when this happens are frightening, the children are much less likely to continue their education, and much more likely to not only get in trouble and require state support but to place children of their own in the foster care system as well. It is imperative that we find these children permanent homes not just for them but for all of us.
How We Help
We help Foster Children find permanent homes by providing financial support for the following initiatives:
We Build Community Awareness
The Fore Adoption Foundation funds programs like National Adoption Day and The Arizona Adoption Gallery to promote adoption awareness in the community.
We Help Recruit Families
The Fore Adoption Foundation in partnership with AASK (Aid to Adoption of Special Kids) and KTVK (Channel 3) supports the Are You My Family? program. This campaign features real foster children telling their stories on television and the web in an effort to help them find permanent homes. The Fore Adoption Foundation also supports the Wendy's Wonderful Kids adoption recruiter who specializes in placing foster children. This is a nationwide program and the Fore Adoption Foundation funds the Arizona recruiter. In a very short time both of these programs have made a positive impact in our community.
We Provide Financial Aid
The Fore Adoption Foundation provides grants to families who might not otherwise be able to afford to adopt foster children, sibling groups, or special needs children. Click here if you would like to learn more about applying for a grant.
