Apply for a Grant
Eligibility
To start the grant process you must have a completed, certified, home study, that is current in your state. You must also have a pending domestic adoption of a child in foster care, a sibling group, or a child with special needs (for our definition of a special needs child please see below). No application will be considered until you have a match with a qualifying child, and we do not make that happen. If you need help finding a child, try www.areyoumyfamily.org, or check out our resource section. If you want to find out if you might qualify for a grant when you have a match, please contact us but we do not pre-qualify applicants.

The Process
Once you have a pending U.S. adoption download the application or contact us and we can mail or fax you one. Complete the application and submit it with the 20 dollar application fee. Applications are reviewed by our board each quarter. Grants of up to 2500 dollars can be awarded to families to cover or reimburse adoptive family agency and or attorney fees.
If you qualify, you will receive a grant within 30 days. If you do not qualify your application will continue to be considered for up to one year. Remember grants will not be paid directly to families and must be used only for costs directly related to the adoption process. It is our goal to eliminate any out of pocket costs to adopt a foster child. The grant process is non discriminatory but not all applicants will receive grants and not all grants will be for the full amount. Please feel free to contact us at anytime during the grant process.
If you receive a grant we would like your permission to include your story in the success portion of our site to aid us in our fundraising efforts.

Special Needs
Different states and organizations have different definitions of the term “special needs”. The Fore Adoption Foundation uses the following criteria to determine a “special needs adoption”. To qualify for a “special needs” grant your child must meet one of the following conditions.
- Physical disability
- Mental disability
- Disease or medical high risk
- Developmental disability or behavioral problems
The Fore Adoption Foundation does not recognize age, or race as a special needs adoption. Families who adopt foster children or sibling groups are eligible for grants under those particular categories.
